Derek's New Zealand Blog 2012
Friday 20th January
Jed the dog and myself both needed a walk, so I decided to walk along Riverside Road, a gravel track between East Taieri - Allanton Road and Outram - Mosgiel Road, crossing the Taieri River plain alongside the River. Excellent views across the valley to Maungatua Range of Mountains, as I walked to Gladstone Road and crossed the Dunedin to Invercargill narrow gauge railway line at an unmanned uncontrolled crossing. Unfortunately no trains to be seen. Immediately after the railway Jed and I crossed the bridge over Owhiro Stream, a picturesque oasis of Cabbage Trees, Flax & Pampas Grass surrounding the stream. Continued to Bush Road, then turned back with fine views of Saddle Hill & Scroggs Hill to the south east. Good stretch of legs in the sunshine and plenty of attention for Jed.
Rainbows over Scroggs Hills later in the evening.
