Derek's New Zealand Blog 2012

Thursday 12th January

Woke up to a dull day. Drove to Chris's to watch the Premiership Football match between Tottenham Hot Spurs and Everton, where the home side won 2-1, putting Tottenham equal second in the league.
Chris continued painting the ceilings while I drove with Kath to Otago Peninsular, via Dunedin for shopping. Very windy along Portobello Road, which is along the side of the huge Otago Harbour. Special care required while driving with no barriers on the water side of the road to prevent a vehicle from entering the drink.

Cruise Ship in Dunedin Harbour

New Dunedin Football Stadium and cruise liner easily visible on the far side of the harbour. Passed a flock of Red Billed gull, native to New Zealand, which were resting on a boathouse just before Macandrew Bay Stores. Further around the the harbour at Broad Bay, shags were likewise sitting on a boathouse, but this time drying their wings.

Through Portobello to Harington Point Road and on to Harwood Village, my namesake. Very shallow water along Tidewater Drive, so plenty of wading birds to be spotted. More 'Flat Cody' photos by the 'Harwood' and 'Harwood Street' signs before returning to base.

Through Didn't hang around passing the mobile canon at Lower Portobello, but did stop for the yellow bicycle advertising Bed & Breakfast and the multicoloured bus shelter by Pudding Island.
